Miller ABC News' Sunlen Miller reports:

White House press secretary Robert Gibbs told reporters this week that while on his 11-day vacation in Hawaii, President Obama would be doing a little reading.

One of the books on the president's reading vacation reading list is a biography of Ronald Reagan called, "President Reagan: The Role of a Lifetime," by Lou Cannon, Deputy White House press secretary Bill Burton confirmed today.

On previous vacations, the president's reading list included an advanced copy of Jonathan Franzen's "Freedom."

The real truth is that Ronald left the biggest deficit recorded to that date. Bush followed and if the Iraque war would have been on budget, you'd understand Obama has actually reduced the deficit. Contrary to what the Right screams, he's done far better at listing and paying.
NO respectable economist supports his ideas on monetary control. That's why Bush fled from them. The result, of course, is that over the last 10 years, 80% of all increased wages has gone to the top 1%. You'll never get there, so what are you doing with the "Welfare for the Rich" crowd.
NOTHING supports the closed minded idea that the GOP is really going to help you. They will, however, support the Koch brothers, and do all they can to keep 52,000,000 people from health care while those that have insurance pay 2X as much as any other country for health care that is rated, world wide, as 8th in its quality.

"The big difference between Reagan and Obama is Reagan believed in truth"

For instance the belief in the truth Reagan demonstrated during the Iran-Contra scandal is exemplary.

"(before the dems created class envy as a political strategy)"

Few people seem to realize there was a universally accepted and strict caste system in place worldwide before about 1965.

He should be reading about FDR & Teddy Roosevelt, and learning about how to deal with "malfactors of great wealth". Then he would be better able to negotiate on our behalf.

to GETREAL-
you obviously don't understand that during the Reagan years, when taxes were cut, the tax revenue increased dramatically. Reagan wasn't the first to enact low taxes to increase revenue. John F Kennedy did it also (before the dems created class envy as a political strategy). Reagan wouldn't have signed on the START treaty. He knew that you can 'trust a communist to be a communist.'
The big difference between Reagan and Obama is Reagan believed in truth. Obama believes in lies and deceit.

What a paradox....

The republicans in congress caved on 'DADT' and the SMART treaty, trying to act like democrats.

Obama is going to read about Reagan, hopeing to act like Reagan (the key word is 'act') but still be the most liberal president in history.

Mike W...The party who abolished slavery and whose votes got the '64 Civil Rights Act over the finish line; they are the party of bad ideas? The democrat party is the party of growing government entitlement programs, the Dept. of Education, labor unions, Pelosi, Reid and Obama. I rest my case.

Posted by: s | Dec 23, 2010 8:49:37 PM

2008 Democratic primary debate;

Obama: "For a long time the Republicans were the party of ideas"

Hillary: "Yeah, the party of BAD ideas"

Cut taxes big on the wealthy 1981 and 2001 and prosperity Trickles Down? Failed.

Deregulate banks, health insurers and oil drillers because it's better for business and they will police themselves? Failed.

Duh. Abe Lincoln would have said;
"You can fool some of the people, ALL of the time"... ;^)

Well, Obama really doesn't have to read the book, since Cheney already told us all about Ronald Reagan: "Reagan taught us that deficits don't matter."

National Debt Balance when Reagan took office, January 1981 = $935 billion
(It took 205 years to get to this balance.)

National Debt Balance after 6 years of Reagan and a Republican Senate, January 1987 = $2.2 Trillion

Increase in the debt balance, after only 6 years of Reagan and a Republican Senate = $1.3 Trillion (135%)

...hehehehehe!

Ray Said: "What a Joke this crook lier..."
======================================
LOL! It's always funny to read the comments from today's right-wingers. My friend, Karl Rove, did an excellent job at attracting this crowd to the Republican party, and we have so many of them now...

...liar = "lier".

Posted by: Georgie Bushie | Dec 23, 2010 7:58:26 PM

What a Joke this crook lier will never never be a Reagan.O yes why is abc hiding about how much it cost Michelle the other dum one to go on vacation again ? LO)L ABC is so pro Oduma makes one want to puke,.

Posted by: Ray | Dec 23, 2010 7:53:04 PM

Great choice of reading: Reagan still is strong.

Posted by: kottaras | Dec 23, 2010 7:52:02 PM

He probably wants to learn what "trust but verify" means.

Posted by: LongT | Dec 23, 2010 7:39:18 PM

Well, sure looks like he already learned how to pay for government by borrowing from China... LOL!... of course, the current Republicans taught him that.

Posted by: Georgie Bushie | Dec 23, 2010 7:27:20 PM

It must have lots of pictures..

Posted by: Allen | Dec 23, 2010 6:42:24 PM

This may help President Obama balance Saul D. Alinsky's "Rules for Radicals: A Pragmatic Primer for Realistic Radicals" which he seems to have committed to memory!

obama can read?

Posted by: MBA | Dec 23, 2010 6:24:29 PM

George Bush and his wife, Laura(a former librarian), had a standing contest to see who could read the most books in a week, every week. True story.

Obama and Michelle, do seem more of the "I already know everything" types, so I doubt the same can be said about him and his beloved.

As stated by Anonymous-"Probably not, though, as Obama strikes me as someone you can't teach because he thinks he already knows it all."

I agree. Everytime he reads anything we are subjected to hearing about it. And I would also like to see his college transcripts. What is the "leader" hiding?

Posted by: can you hear me now? | Dec 23, 2010 6:14:28 PM

I know they like to tell us how intelligent Obama is, but I can't find his college transcripts/grades or thesis anywhere on the net? Or even his ranking on the bar exam?? If anyone has this info please provide the sources where I can verify it.

Posted by: whathappened08 | Dec 23, 2010 5:57:19 PM

Even though Mr. Bush doesn't even know some of the foreign leader names, misspelled and mispronounced some words, I feel that Mr. Obama's intelligence is only slightly higher than Mr. Bush, and no where near Mr. Clinton.

Posted by: young_voter | Dec 23, 2010 5:43:39 PM

Mr. Obama should be reading the economic reports.

GetReal: "At least this president can read . . ."

He's had a lot of practice reading all those teleprompters. I wouldn't be surprised if he brought one along to Hawaii to aid him in communicating to his family. Ah, the great communicator. Hahahaha!

GetReal: "He's going to brush up on his reagonomics so he can get the best strategy in place for reversing all the damage done by it . . ."

I wouldn't be so sure as he's just renewed the Bush tax cuts. You know, the ones he said got us into this mess. Thus, Obama's shift to the center. This guy's nothing but a joke to both sides of the political spectrum, now. Worry not as 2012 will be here before you know it!

Posted by: Anonymous | Dec 23, 2010 5:13:21 PM

Oh and he does know more than anyone else, get over it.

Posted by: GetReal | Dec 23, 2010 5:04:05 PM

At least this president can read unlike the last one. He's going to brush up on his reagonomics so he can get the best strategy in place for reversing all the damage done by it and the last illiterate who vacationed more than any president in the history of the world.

Posted by: GetReal | Dec 23, 2010 5:03:30 PM

more vacation for the president ,in two year he take more vacation what any president before what a wonderful president;don't worry mr obama after 2012 you take it a long vacation

Posted by: betty | Dec 23, 2010 5:02:57 PM

what hypocrite is this president obama,i no have word for describe this fake situation,is a shame

Posted by: betty | Dec 23, 2010 4:58:19 PM

Now that Obama's turned a new leaf regarding tax cuts, he's probably just brushing up on his "Reaganomics." In any case, at least he can read more about how a real president runs the country. Maybe some of it will rub off. Probably not, though, as Obama strikes me as someone you can't teach because he thinks he already knows it all.
