Prime minister, and Aston Villa fanatic, appears to gunning for vacant position in Premier League team during morning jog
The famous Villan David Cameron was captured running through a London park on Friday morning, decked out in the colours of his favourite football team and replete with name and number on his back.
The Evening Standard journalist Ross Lydall was on his cycle to work when he spotted the prime minister, an Aston Villa fan, jogging through Hyde Park.
"I did a double-take ? he was surrounded by FIVE protection officers (four men and a woman) ? and noticed he was wearing a footie shirt with his name and the number of 10 Downing Street on the back," Lydall wrote.
Despite his best efforts to capture the "Cameron 10" emblazoned on the back of the shirt, the video only shows the number, although Lydall also managed to take a fetching snap of our prime minister from the front.
Cameron's beloved Villa survived a tricky 2010/11 season to finish a respectable 9th, and he, along with fellow fans, will be hoping to qualify for Europe under new manager Alex McLeish this season.
The prime minister's number of choice is currently available at Aston Villa, after previous No 10, John Carew, left the club in May when his contract expired.
Cameron reportedly fell in love with Aston Villa after his uncle ? the former Villa chairman Sir William Dugdale took him to a match.
News that Cameron enjoys wearing football shirts will come as no surprise to followers of the prime minister's lifestyle. He has previously boosted his blokey image by revealing a passion for darts and cans of Guinness.
