@BarackObama Tweets on Debt Debate: #Fail?

As they say on the twitter -- #Fail?

The non-stop tweets from the president?s re-election campaign that we wrote about earlier today-- urging supporters to tweet GOP lawmaker Twitter accounts, urging them to #compromise cost @BarackObama at least 36,000 followers, notes the tech blog Mashable.

In addition, National Journalnotes that the president appears to have helped GOP representatives gain thousands of followers.

"Thanks @BarackObama for pushing @RoyBlunt over 11,000 followers today!" tweeted Amber Marchand, Republican Sen. Roy Blunt?s communications director.

It is important to not that of 9 million followers 36,000 is really a tiny percentage that was lost.
As far as Republicans gaining followers, the article in the tech site noted they gained 6500, again a very small number.
I don't like stories like this that much of something that is so insignificant. It smacks of sensationalism.

Let Obama fail. He has made no effort to prevent failing, he has actually made every effort to assure his failure.

The Republicans would rather run up a trillion dollar debt on foreign wars than help a poor person in their own community.

Looking forward to seeing those tax loopholes for the wealthy plugged and subsidies to big oil companies ended.

I'm betting that'll be the Republicans who introduce that right?

Looking forward to seeing those who are receiving "entitlements" illegally (aka receiving disability when one is fully able to work, getting food stamps while 'working on the side' and not reporting the income, etc.) are pursued, cracked down on, and forced to do something to sustain themselves instead of living off my tax dollars.

I'm betting that'll be the Democrats who introduce that, right?

Amusing that the right wing response to billions off the deficit without lots of money spent on enforcement is less than millions off the deficit and lots of money spent on enforcement and force.

The Republican job creation plan?

Why are Republicans such brutish boobs? Seriously.

The only goal of Boehner?s decaying party is to manipulate the American economy to turn voters against our current president. They will stop at nothing to regain the presidency and again enjoy their free unchecked reign...

Could be true but it assumes that their that together and bright. I don't think so.

my last post was to chuck who wrote:

"Hello Pete Sessions, if anything you've proven that your concern for certainty is fake! You've passed a bill that ensures economic uncertainty, fails to alter the country's debt trajectory and won't bolster the United States' chance of preserving its AAA rating."

Posted by: Kimberly | Jul 29, 2011 10:37:05 PM

LOL! If you're so wise about finance, debt, and economics, why aren't you wealthy?

Posted by: Chuck | Jul 30, 2011 2:22:20 AM

My comment is this:

My accountant's name isn't Chuck. One must wonder if all right wingers use conjecture to come up with their facts.

My guess is yes.

I stand by my comment to Sessions.

You're assumption is I'm not and yet my accountant's name isn't Chuck. Ultimately, wealth is relative. Do you base all your conclusions on the same sort of assumptions? If so, let all be advised to salt and ketchup your posts before consumption.

LOL!!!!

The only goal of Boehner?s decaying party is to manipulate the American economy to turn voters against our current president. They will stop at nothing to regain the presidency and again enjoy their free unchecked reign in maximizing profit.===
To ensure that the President will veto their bill to raise the debt ceiling they have signed a pledge essentially:_____not a single penny of higher taxes for the upper 2%, along with permanent Bush-era tax breaks, and no closing of any loopholes. So now, when the President vetoes such a blatantly one sided bill, that if enacted into law would push many into poverty and destroy our nation, they can blame him for not passing a bill that would increase the debt limit. But of course, only on their terms, and without compromise to share the burden. A brilliant strategy to return us to the Son of a Bush era that absolutely got us into this current economic nose-dive. What kind of idiot cannot comprehend that our downward Bush spiral that allowed a deficit to occur from a surplus may take years to recover from. Absolutely key to the recovery is to provide health care, both emergency and preventive to those suddenly unemployed and without company health plan coverage. And yes to ensure that profit taking insurers don?t refuse them coverage or put a cap on what their lives are worth. There are any number of subtle prejudicial ties that the slur ?Obamacare? can evoke in the ?sheeple?, who are too nave to know when they are being emotionally manipulated by unscrupulous republican strategists.

How did we get here?

1. January 2001-->Clinton ends presidency with 3 surpluses in a row.

2. GEORGE W. BUSH, 2001 STATE OF THE UNION ADDRESS: The people of America have been overcharged and on their behalf, I?m here asking for a refund.

3. SUPPOSED "Temporary" BUSH TAX CUTS IMPLEMENTED.

4. While the rich and corporations enjoyed the largest tax breaks in all of U.S. history, Republicans continued growing government:

** Two Wars-->Paid For By Borrowing.
** New Federal Department ("Department of Homeland Security) created by Republican President and Republican Congress-->Paid For By Borrowing.
** MEDICARE Part D, Republican "Sell-Out" to U.S. Pharmaceutical companies-->Unfunded and Paid for by Borrowing.
** Debt to China when Clinton left office, $61.5 Billion...Debt to China when Bush left office (with 6 of his 8 years having a Republican Congress) = $751 billion.
** Annual Interest Payment on the Debt Balance in 2008, after Bush increased the debt from $5 Trillion to $10.6 trillion = $451 Billion dollars in interest for ONLY 2008 (half-a-trillion-dollars).

LOL!...Yep, those so-called, "temporary" Bush Tax Cuts worked....LOL!... for some people.

5. November/December 2010, Republican House holds extension of unemployment insurance for average Americans "hostage", but quickly roll-over when Obama agrees to extend the Bush Tax Cuts through 2012. "We need to ensure that our Rich friends and corporations are taken care of too."... LOL!

I like BobBob's comment "36,000 Conservative spies got angry and left Obama's site". Hehe. I am on "Obama for America's" email list, much for the same reason. Not as a spy, but I think it's good to know what OFA is up to. You should read some of the things Jim Messina, David Plouffe, Obama himself, and others put out in their emails. And "Donate" is always slipped in as an option. I've never seen so much race-baiting, class-warfare, hate-the-rich propaganda in my life. And all these emails are sent only to "supporters", while being cleverly concealed from the public. This allows his imperial Majesty to go public, urging us to "act like adults". All the while, he's happy to loose his minions to use any dirty tactics they can to position him favorably. Now, you libs, did you notice I used particular "facts" to describe Obama and his followers? You should try that, instead of saying absolutely nothing of substance. Just read MIKE IN CAROLINA's post, and you'll notice that he said NOTHING other than he hates Republicans. He probably still mis-quotes Limbaugh's "I hope he fails" comment to this day.

Obama IS the third term of Bush and he IS totally committed to continuation of all Bush policy, foreign and domestic. However, I think he only reluctantly continues the existing war policies and cannot possibly intend to expand any of them but it would not shock me if he doe;

LOL! If you're so wise about finance, debt, and economics, why aren't you wealthy?

Thanks to Obama, we ALREADY have economic uncertainty and an uncertain debt trajectory. That's partly why companies aren't hiring.

No, tierra, the AAA credit rating is a total fabrication for the lemmings. Consider this. If you borrowed 43% of your annual household budget, increased it every year, and had no plans to reign in spending (ever!) you would: 1) be considered extremely high risk by any loan officer, and 2) be bankrupt in relatively short order.

Even if you could afford the minimum interest payments, it sure doesn't sound to me like you'd be AAA material.

And your implication that borrowing even more money improves your AAA rating is nonsensical.

Posted by: Chuck | Jul 30, 2011 2:22:20 AM

What we have seen in recent days and weeks is a total collapse of confidence in this president. That is not the same as a collapse in support: there are those who still "support" him, but the support is grim and unloving.

The collapse in confidence is total and universal: no one seriously believes that he has any idea what he is doing, and everyone knows that he is not a leader.

Come on Congress cut out all the foreign aid...why are we borrowing money and then giving it to foreign countries....Sad ....Secondly...Let's get rid of all the individual tax laws and everybody pays 10%///Do this and we wouldn't have a debt problem...Now let's get to work ...as in fast

Chaingang: It seems that you view news networks that don't lean against Obama to be supporting him. I'll admit this;FOX and the conservative media are very reliable, i.e. they can be relied on to abandon all objectivity. No one in their right mind or who is fairminded fails to see that these people are used to exploit ignorance and bigotry and have been doing so since the day Obama was nominated at the Dems' convention. Limbaugh immediately declared that "we're gonna muddy this guy". There was no intention of offering truthful commentary. They inject misinformation everytime they open their mouths.

This is what I found;

Today marks the 757th day since Congress last adopted a conference report on a budget resolution. But while the Republican House has met its obligations this year, the Democrat-led Senate remains in open defiance of the law?last year the Senate did not even call up a budget for a vote and this year the Senate Budget Committee has not even marked up a resolution, as required under Sec. 300 of the Congressional Budget Act of 1974 (P.L. 93-344).

The last time the Senate passed a budget was April 29, 2009, which was 755 days ago.

The republican speaker looks weak and the radical republicans/conservatives are stinking up the polls with poor approval numbers, but they think they are wining! Ha!

So Republicans take to twitter after they passed their dumb bill in the house to write lies like: "it's time for Senate democrats to join our efforts to provide certainty to the free enterprise system."

lol!! Hello Pete Sessions, if anything you've proven that your concern for certainty is fake! You've passed a bill that ensures economic uncertainty, fails to alter the country's debt trajectory and won't bolster the United States' chance of preserving its AAA rating. Great job, boobs.

36,000 conservative spies got angry at the President and left his tweet site! Good riddance! They made room for real Obama supporters!

Roy Blunt? The same Roy Blunt that voted on a budget in April, and then in July issued a press release saying the democrat senate had not voted on a budget in over 800 days, Roy Blunt? The first poster on here needs to be researching some more. Boy did you get "Royed!"

Posted by: MaeMobly | Jul 29, 2011 10:32:31 PM

Did anyone else see that sad Press Conv.
with Reid, Durbin and Shumer? What a bunch of con artists. I read that it is LAW that congress pass a budget. Harry Reid should be in jail. What's it been? 800 plus days. ABC, you are complicit in all this. Lazy and always covering for the Dems.

President Obama is more into his re-election campaign then anything that has to do with running the country. To him its all about fundraisers when he should have taken control over this debacle.
