Last meeting before Paris conference covered developments on ground and humanitarian situation, spokeswoman says
David Cameron chaired a national security council meeting on Libya on Tuesday prior to an international conference, taking place in Paris, which he will co-host later this week.
A Downing Street spokeswoman said the meeting had "discussed developments on the ground, the humanitarian situation and the unfreezing of assets, and they looked ahead to the Paris conference".
Asked about details of the Paris conference on Thursday, the spokeswoman said the agenda was still being worked through with their French counterparts.
The spokeswoman said the possible capture of Muammar Gaddafi was a matter for the Libyan people, but added that Britain was supporting the National Transitional Council (NTC) in the "broadest terms".
Asked to confirm that the UK was playing no role in the hunt for Gaddafi, the spokeswoman added: "We are not going to go into detail, but we are contributing".
Negotiations with rebel leaders to allow British police officers investigating the death of PC Yvonne Fletcher in to Libya are under way, Downing Street confirmed.
Officials said the government was "in discussions" with the NTC over the continuing investigation and it was their "hope" that an agreement could be reached soon.
Fletcher was shot while policing a protest outside the Libyan embassy in 1984, and junior diplomat Abdulmagid Salah Ameri has been named as the prime suspect.
No 10 said discussions would take place "when it is appropriate" about other "outstanding issues that we have with Libya".
The spokeswoman added: "In terms of Yvonne Fletcher, there is an ongoing police investigation and we are working with the NTC to see whether we can ensure those investigations continue in Libya."
The developments come after comments by NTC member Hassan al-Sagheer at the weekend which suggested the new Libyan government would block fresh efforts to secure justice over Fletcher's murder as well as the Lockerbie bombing.
