Tonight's episode of Warehouse 13 on Syfy (9 pm, EST) was written by Vanity Fair?s own Nell Scovell, with whom I had drinks and sophisticated conversation at the Algonquin on Friday. And by ?drinks? I mean Diet Cokes, the two of us perhaps still recovering from the excesses of the Eighties, when life was just one big long limo ride into Jay McInerney?s F. Scott Fitzgerald blue suede nights of the soul. Or maybe it was because it was 11 AM, a bit early for anybody to be knocking back the liquor, unless you?re ?prepping? for a role in a Charles Bukowski adaptation.
Unfamiliar with Warehouse 13, I assumed it was a wacky workplace comedy about a lovable band of misfits who drove forklifts around under the baleful eye of an irascible supervisor played by some burly actor with a clipboard. I appear to have been wildly mistaken. Warehouse 13 is about?well, you can read about it here. Since the series is in its third season, it's clear I have some ?catching up? to do.
