Trying to See It from the Other Guy's Perspective

It's academic now (re Mubarak), but if I were an autocrat I could see the appeal of clinging to power indefinitely.

It'd be like being a celebrity and being told that no longer would goodie bags be given out at celebrity events.

It's hard to give up the goodies, undeserved though they may be.

That's basic human nature, something intrinsic to Man since he first learned to swing a golf club.
